Dear Parents, Guardians and Visitors,
This website is intended to help you discover more about the life and work of St Mary’s Catholic Voluntary Academy.
Our first aim is to help your child settle well and enjoy school. We recognise that as a parent or guardian, you are the first educator of your child and we aim to work with you to encourage your child to begin to grow into an independent and responsible citizen.
St Mary’s Catholic Voluntary Academy is a good school, inspired and guided by Gospel Values. We put Christ and the teachings of the Catholic Church at the centre of everything we do and aspire for academic excellence for every child, growing with Jesus ti be the best they can be. People who visit St Mary’s for the first time comment on how warm, welcoming and friendly the school is. Our “Family Atmosphere” is built on a coaching and nurturing ethos.
Year 4 have recorded observations after 5 days of our boiled eggs being in a variety of liquids. Representing tooth decay🦷🪥🥚 Great science learning!

BIG LENT WALK 2026 💚💜
We walked through town and around Queen’s Park. Deacon Keith led us in a decade of the Rosary at the Carillon tower and we sang our Lent song. Well done Saint Mary’s!!! 👏💙

Saint Anne’s have had a busy half term learning about the Easter Story. They re-enacted Palm Sunday and made a class Easter garden as they’ve learnt about Good Friday and Jesus’ resurrection.
In their Literacy work the children begun retelling fairy tales. We’ve started with Goldilocks and Jack & the Beanstalk. This has led to some wonderful speaking and writing in class so we will be continuing this after the Easter holidays. Next term they will also be learning about plants and how they grow. Any donations of seeds, bulbs or plants would be greatly appreciated 🪴
